Fluid Features – What does Bob think?

Fused contains the most comprehensive fluids toolkit for Cinema 4D artists. Why are people so excited about this?

Bob Walmsley

We asked our very own Bob Walmsley, our Training specialist, for his views on Fused Fluids capabilities.

We've seen and heard a lot recently in social media comments about the incredible fluid features within the Fused Collection. Why are people so excited about them Bob? What do they offer that's unique to our package?

Fused contains the most comprehensive fluids toolkit for Cinema 4D artists. There are tools for large to medium scale sims, like oceans and waterfalls, small scale sims, like fizzy drinks and crown splashes and even macro shots for science and medical visualizations.

Traditionally, it could be frustrating working with particle fluids as the simulation times were long. Now, with the GPU powered NeXus fluids, it's much easier and more fun to setup and art-direct complex sims.

Are these features for professionals or could a complete noob like me use them?

Fused fluids tools offer artists the ultimate level of control in setting up and adjusting fluid simulations. The solvers and modifiers have controls for the ultra-fine tuning of settings. However, we understand that not every artist has the time to learn the intricate details of fluid dynamics. With that in mind, the tools have been setup so that, in their default settings, you will get a good quality, realistic simulation straight out of the box. Having said that, there are some pretty amazing YouTube training videos on our page for artists who want to dive in more deeply and don't forget, we offer manual pages for all of our features on our website.

Do the fluid features marry up well with the other features in the Fused collection?

One of the most important things about Fused fluids is that they work and can be integrated with all other tools within Fused and Cinema 4D. Gone are the days when you had to export meshes and simulate fluids in separate software, to then import that sim back into the original scene. With Fused, this cumbersome round-tripping workflow is thankfully gone. You can do it all live in Cinema 4D and the fluids will work with particles, cloth, smoke & fire and mograph.

We normally ask questions like this to people outside of the INSYDIUM world but, what's your favorite fluid feature Bob and why?

I love our tool that generates realistic foam and spray particles on fluids sims - nxFoam. These foam particles can bring a huge level of perceived detail to quite a low-particle count fluid sim. This means you can get away with setting up a very quick to simulate fluid simulation, but have it look very detailed. What's even cooler, is that you can generate foam particles on cached fluid sims. This way, you get much better playback speed which helps make artistic adjustments to the foam and spray.

If you want to take advantage of the training videos that Bob mentions here, check out our YouTube page and you can always check out all the manual pages on our website for comprehensive information on how our features work.
